How to Find the Perfect Roommates
One of the main sources of stress for college program acceptees in finding who to live with. Most participants will have lived in a dorm or dorm like setting prior to beginning their program and usually know what to expect. For those who don't, know that delegation and being considerate are key for maintaining a good relationship with your roommates. As far as finding the perfect roommates, the best advice I can give is to join the facebook pages early and talk with people. Get a feel for what people are like and, if need be, post a roommate survey once you get accepted. It is unwise to find roommates that have yet to be accepted due to the fact that if they end up getting NLID'd, many other potential roommates will have already found other people to live with.
Going Random
One option for DCP housing is to go random. For people who don't want to go through the process of trying to find a group of roommates or for those who don't like the options available, going random is probably the best bet. People that go random are more likely to get their first choice in housing but run the risk of living with someone that is hard to get along with. There both success and horror stories that have come about from people deciding to go random, ranging from becoming best friends to getting termed because one of the random roommates brought alcohol into their wellness apartment. The most important thing to realize when choosing to go random is that it is a risk, but you can always contact housing with any problems that occur.
